The course ‘lessons in loss’ is amazing, has been transformative for me both professionally and personally. It has enabled me as a practitioner to change the language and way in which we support young people who experience a wide variety of loss. As a school-based practitioner, I often encounter individuals dealing with profound grief and loss and not just bereavement. This course equipped me with invaluable tools and insights, significantly enhancing my ability to support our young people with empathy and effectiveness

One of the most impactful aspects was learning how to create a safe space for individuals to express their grief. The course emphasised the importance of empathy and active listening – ‘a big heart with ears’, which has allowed me to connect with pupils on a deeper level.

On a personal level, the course helped me process my own experiences with loss. It was a journey of self-discovery and healing, and I now feel more equipped to handle my emotions and support others through theirs.
