Impact Statement – Lessons in Loss journal series – Wow!

I am the pastoral lead at St Bede Academy Primary School, and I work with a lot of children who have dealt with some kind of loss. Before there was no real structure on dealing with the loss of a loved one or pet but after using the journals it has given the children a voice to be able to express their feelings in the journal and to their trusted adults. It has enabled them to open up about how they feel and talk about their loss.

The children were so grateful for the help it has provided, and the teachers guides are very helpful and allow staff to support the children the right way without any pressure or giving false information.

I wish I had enough money to roll this out for every child in school as I feel it would benefit them all to be able to express their feelings when dealing with loss.
